Step 1 — Launch the call for applications
The ADP will launch the call for applications for 2018 Visualize 2030 via a social media campaign.
Interested applicants are expected to provide: a filled application as per the template provided by ADP, an updated professional portfolio, and samples of previous work (if available).
Step 2 — Selection of the top 30 ideas
Visualize 2030 will bring together the top 30 participants (individuals and teams) selected for a full five-day data dive adventure to collectively think and engage with one another to unleash the power of data: create visualizations, infographics, illustrations, and videos using the ADP Database and other official national sources.
The participants will be selected based on skills and innovation, taking into consideration diversity criteria.
Step 3 — Notification of shortlisted teams
The project applications will be assessed by the jury of the preselection phase. Shortlisted individuals/teams will be notified about the results within their challenge via email.
Step 4 — Data Camp in Beirut
The preselected teams will be invited to the data camp to develop their ideas.
Over four days, the individuals/teams will be granted access to an on-site training and production facility where trainers on coding, graphic design, videography, animation, statistical analysis and visualization will assist the participants in producing their final products.
Step 5 — Final ceremony in Beirut
Participants will present their final product during a ceremony that will be held in Beirut in October 2018, and that will include: pitch presentations and demonstrations of the projects by the teams (7-10 minutes each); announcement of the winners and awards ceremony.
Who Can Apply?
The 2018 Visualize 2030 is open to Arab youth, aged 18-29, that are data scientists, computer programmers, graphic and interface designers, data journalists, data community activists, etc., interested in creatively tackling societal challenges through data visualization.
Visualize 2030 is open to teams composed of one, two or three individuals.
Teams from the 2017 Visualize 2030 cannot participate in this year’s data camp to give the chance to new participants.
Visualize 2030 is also not open to staff working in the UN agencies country offices.
