The Arab Knowledge Project (AKP) is developing the Global edition of the Knowledge Index, the leading initiative that aims at presenting an objective assessment of the state of Knowledge from a development perspective.
The process of preparing the Knowledge Index is of a participatory nature. In this context, several meetings and consultations have been taking place, building up on the earlier Arab knowledge index. This meeting is the third in the series of experts meeting, with the first two being in Beirut and Dubai. The meeting aims at further discussing and refining the final structure and specificity of the upcoming knowledge index, in its first ever global edition.
The convention of this meeting at the Library of Alexandria is highly symbolic, and comes as a tribute to highlight the leading cultural and civilizational role of Egypt throughout ancient and modern history. The Library itself is a historical and civilizational icon. It was first constructed early in the third century BC, and is considered one of the largest and most significant libraries of the ancient world.
